Most anticipated films of 2012

There are a lot of movies to be shown in theaters before the world ends (2012 lol), so here is a list of the most anticipated ones by order of scheduled release date:

John Carter (March 9):

This will be the newest film by Andrew Stanton, the screenwriter and Director of a few Pixar films such as Toy StoryMonsters inc. , and Wall-E and is now making his first live action movie. John Carter is about a military captain who is transported to Mars (Barsoom) whithout knowing how. He soon discovers the fate of that planet is in his hands.

The Hunger Games (March 23):

This film is an adaptation of the bestselling book of the same name. The movie is staring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and newcomer Liam Hemsworth. The Hunger Games is about a girl (Katniss) living in the dictated world of Panem who will have to fight in the Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live T.V, after being randomly chosen to participate. She is chosen with Peeta to represent her district (District 12).

The Avengers (May 4):

And right when you thought there weren't anymore super heroes to make a movie, The Avengers pops out. This one is about different Marvel super heroes teaming up against evil. They are Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Of course, that is not all. They are teamed up by Nicky Furry (Samuel Jackson),and also in the team Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johanson).

Prometheus (June 8):

The plot of this movie remains a mystery at the time I am writing this article. All we know is that it is a Sci-fi film directed by Ridley Scott that might or might not be a prequel for Alien, and that it stars Michael Fassbender, Naomie Rapace, and Charlize Theron. By the title name, I think the story might have something about Greek myths (Prometheus is a titan in greek mythology who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to humans).

Brave (June 22):

There is usualy only one Pixar films released in theatres each year, and this year, it's Brave. Critics are hopping for this one to be a good movie after last years Cars 2 got released and wasn't what we had hopped for. This is the first Pixar film to have a girl as the protagonist and the film is about a young girl who wants to become a warior and not a princess in medieval times. That should be refreshing!

The Dark Knight Rises (July 20):

The Batman trilogy ends on this movie now also staring Tom Hardy as Bane and Anne Hathaway as Catwomen (the two new villains). Christopher Nolan is still Directing and Christian Bale is still Batman so everything seems to be running O.K. The plot of this movie seems a little darker than the former two movies, and is happening 8 years after The Dark Knight and again the plot is not that clear but we can tell there were no villains for a while by looking at the trailer.

Skyfall (November 9):

It has been a while since there was a James Bond film because of MGM's bankruptcy but now the series will continue with Skyfall. James Bond  is still going to be Daniel Craig but this time the villain is going to be played by Javier Bardem. Not much information is given out about the plot but we all know it's going to be like: 'Good guy' has to kill 'Bad guy'.

The Hobbit (December 14):

This is the prequel to The Lord of the Ring trilogy which again got post-poned because of MGM's bankruptcy. I haven't read the book so I'm not quite sure what it is about but expect it to be good like the other Lord of the Ring films. Peter Jackson already released the trailer, more than an entire year before the movie's release date, so a lot of people are already looking forward to it.

So, that's all for today. Please let me know if you enjoyed my first article, and what I could do to make it more interesting to you.

  1. I personally want to see The Hunger Games even though I haven't read the books yet. And of course, I cannot miss a James Bond movie, especially with Daniel Craig as 007! I might see the new Batman, and The Hobbitt, but I think I'll pass for the other movies. But of course, I can change my mind... Keep writing.
